Beats 360: What to Know About Beats’ New Customizable Over-Ear Headphones

Current image: Beats 360 customizable over-ear headphones with interchangeable ear and headband cushions

Beats 360 is the newest over-ear headphone from Beats, and its biggest difference from earlier models is not just sound. The headphones introduce interchangeable ear and headband cushions, letting users change the look and feel of the headphones without replacing the entire unit. Beats is also positioning the 360 as an over-ear option for active lifestyles, with IPX4 sweat and water resistance, advanced active noise cancellation, and support for both Apple and Android devices.

The Beats 360 starts at $349.99 in the U.S. Orders opened September 22, 2026, with in-store availability beginning September 24.

Here is what headphone buyers need to know about Beats’ new flagship over-ear model.

What is Beats 360?

Beats 360 is a new over-ear headphone designed around three ideas: sound, comfort, and customization.

Unlike the Beats Studio Pro, which remains in the lineup, the 360 introduces a new design with interchangeable cushions for both the earcups and headband. Buyers can choose different cushion colors and materials, making the headphones easier to personalize.

The headphones are also designed with exercise and travel in mind. Beats gives them an IPX4 rating for sweat and water resistance and uses breathable Performance Knit cushions as the standard option.

The standout feature is customization

The most unusual part of Beats 360 is the interchangeable cushion system.

Each headphone comes with matching Performance Knit earcup and headband cushions. Owners can purchase additional Cushion Kits and swap them when they want a different color or material.

Performance Knit cushions are designed to be breathable and suitable for active use, while UltraPlush cushions provide a different feel and are available in Black and Cloud.

Beats says the customization system provides more than just a cosmetic change. Being able to remove the cushions can also be useful after workouts or when a different material is preferable for longer listening sessions.

The company offers:

  • Performance Knit: Black, Cloud, Pink, Sky, Navy and Volt
  • UltraPlush: Black and Cloud

Additional Cushion Kits include both earcup and headband cushions.

How much do Beats 360 Cushion Kits cost?

The standard U.S. price for an additional Cushion Kit is $49.99, although Beats is offering a limited introductory price of $9.99 in selected markets through October 31, 2026, while supplies last.

That pricing makes the customization concept more interesting at launch, but buyers should distinguish between the promotional price and the eventual regular price.

Beats 360 is built for workouts

Most over-ear headphones are designed primarily around commuting, travel, office use or general listening.

Beats is taking a different approach with the 360.

The headphones have an IPX4 rating, making them resistant to sweat and water splashes. Beats describes them as suitable for running, training and workouts.

The Performance Knit cushions are made with memory foam and a breathable knit covering. The headphones also use adjustable stainless-steel sliders and independently rotating earcups to help with fit and stability.

That does not make Beats 360 waterproof. IPX4 is a splash-resistance rating, so the headphones should not be treated like equipment designed for heavy rain or immersion.

How good is the noise cancellation?

Beats says Beats 360 has its most advanced Active Noise Cancellation system to date.

The company claims up to 1.75 times more total noise cancellation than Beats Studio Pro.

The headphones also include Transparency mode for situations where users need to hear their surroundings.

When both ANC and Transparency mode are turned off, Adaptive EQ continuously adjusts the sound to the listener’s environment and fit.

For people who use headphones in gyms, airports or busy streets, having both ANC and Transparency mode is particularly useful because the listening experience can change depending on the environment.

What about sound quality?

Beats says the 360 features its most advanced acoustic system yet, with a high-fidelity platform designed to deliver powerful bass, clarity and low distortion.

The company has also chosen not to use Apple’s proprietary audio chips. Instead, Beats 360 uses a custom Beats chip designed to support both Apple and Android ecosystems. Beats President Oliver Schusser told BGR that the decision was intended to keep the headphones optimized across both platforms.

This is an important distinction for buyers.

Beats 360 is part of Apple, but it is not positioned as an Apple-only accessory.

Beats 360 works with iPhone and Android

Apple users get several ecosystem features, including:

  • One-touch pairing
  • Automatic Switching
  • Audio Sharing
  • Personalized Spatial Audio with dynamic head tracking
  • Find My
  • Siri support

Android users get features including Fast Pair, Audio Switch and Find Hub integration.

The cross-platform approach is one of the more notable aspects of Beats 360. Buyers who use Android phones are not simply getting a reduced version of an Apple accessory.

One important limitation is that some Apple-specific functionality requires compatible Apple hardware and software. Personalized Spatial Audio, for example, requires a compatible iPhone with a TrueDepth camera to create a personal profile.

Battery life and charging

Beats 360 offers up to 32 hours of playback, according to Beats.

Fast Fuel charging provides up to an hour of playback after a five-minute charge, according to the company’s testing. Actual battery life varies depending on settings and usage.

That gives the headphones enough endurance for long travel days while reducing the inconvenience of short charging sessions.

Beats 360 vs. Beats Studio Pro

Beats 360 does not replace the Studio Pro.

The Studio Pro remains in the Beats lineup, with its price reduced to $299.99 in the U.S., while Beats 360 launches at $349.99.

The distinction is useful when deciding between the two.

For someone specifically interested in interchangeable cushions and workout use, the 360 introduces capabilities the Studio Pro does not offer.

Beats 360 price and availability

Beats 360 became available to order on September 22, 2026.

The U.S. starting price is $349.99, Availability in physical stores begins September 24.

The four standard colors are:

  • Black
  • Cloud
  • Pink
  • Sky

Each comes with matching Performance Knit cushions.

Additional cushion options can then be purchased separately.

Is Beats 360 worth considering?

That depends largely on what you want from an over-ear headphone.

Beats 360 makes particular sense for listeners who want:

  • Over-ear headphones that can handle sweat and splashes
  • Strong noise cancellation
  • Long battery life
  • Apple and Android compatibility
  • A more secure design for active use
  • Interchangeable cushions
  • A headphone that can be customized visually

The customization system is the biggest reason to consider the 360 over a conventional pair of over-ear headphones.

However, buyers focused purely on value may want to compare it with the lower-priced Studio Pro and competing headphones before purchasing.

The bigger idea behind Beats 360

Beats 360 is more than another update to the company’s over-ear lineup.

The product suggests Beats is trying to make headphones feel more like a personal accessory while still improving their practical features. The interchangeable cushions allow owners to change the appearance without buying another headphone, while the sweat resistance gives the same product a clearer role in active settings.

The launch campaign featuring Kendall Jenner reinforces that positioning. The campaign focuses heavily on changing styles and personalities, matching the idea that the headphones can change with the wearer.

At the same time, Beats has retained compatibility with Android rather than restricting the product to Apple’s ecosystem.

For headphone lovers, that combination makes Beats 360 an interesting new entry in the premium over-ear market: a $349.99 headphone built not only around sound and noise cancellation, but also around the ability to change how the hardware looks and feels.
